I am disgusted and appalled by the thoughtless behaviour that happened today in London. Why can’t people (of any age) perceive that a peaceful protest is more respected and useful towards it’s cause then a violent one.

These riots, pictures and words spoken by individuals are exactly the opposite to how the youth should be portrayed; isn’t ‘chavs’ and ‘happy-slapping’ enough rubbish we teenagers need to battle against. What’s more there are people promoting the actions as good and necessary, which is quite frankly scary; 10 people are injured and buildings are destroyed and smashed to pieces, and this is good?

Ah. I know the intentions of the few students who honestly care was good, but this has probably affected many of the ‘little’ people’s views on the youth, let alone the more powerful!

I would go on but

Emily. Is. Frustrated.

  1. Too right. Sadly, your point about the peaceful protest being more respected is countered by these knuckleheads with the arguement that the massed peaceful protests against going to war with Iraq fell on deaf ears, and yet the massed riots in the 1980s appeared to directly influence the overturning of the Poll Tax. I don't nessecerily agree with it - peaceful protests are enough of a sign if enough people get involved in it that people are oppposed to an idea.
It's a shame, because a lot of people, especially the older generations, percieve young people (and ESPECIALLY students) as lazy layabouts only out to doss around and get drunk, and then when we get a chance to right this perception, a bunch of rent-a-mob cretins hijack the protest and turn it into some sort of class war riot. Instead of sending out a clear message, all that's happened is the media is given a feeding frenzy by the cretins who think it's amusing and tough to smash shit and throw fire extinguishers at police officers (some of whom, I heard, had to go unpaid through their training).
Very frustrating indeed, as the chance to make a statement and stand up for a belief has been completly thrown out the window by the actions of a bunch of myopic, self-righteous morons - also, funny how they are so brash and loud and proud, and yet they can't bring themselves to show their faces, eh? All masked up. Yeah, you're very brave and courageous, aren't you? And all of this going down the day before rememberance day, the day we show respect to geniune heroes, rather than these jumped-up twerps who think you change the world by setting fire to stuff.

Sorry, rant over. You might've guessed, you weren't the only one frustrated with this deal, haha!
